What is this pendulum doing here?

This interactive double pendulum simulation is based on equations derived using Lagrangian (the name of this website!!) formulation of Classical Mechanics. Finding the equations governing the motion of double pendulum system is one of the first problems used to demonstrate the ease and efficacy of this formulation over Newton’s equations.
